"Lecture on China as an Emerging Global Powerhouse"

The Office of Multicultural Affairs has the honour of attending a lecture this evening, at Emory University on the topic of "China as an Emerging Global Powerhouse". The lecture will be led by Dr. Mary Brown Bulluck and President Emerita of Agnes Scott College.

I found it very interesting how China's public policy efforts differ greatly from that of The United States. For example, China has invested a tremendous amount of effort to provide technical assistance and financial aid along with medicine and doctors to Africa. Whereas the United States has dedicated much of its efforts in the Middle East.

I found it very interesting that the students involved in the famous Tienanmen square incident of 1989 were not protesting with the goal of changing to a democratic government rather, they were gathering to demand more dialogue and acknowledgment from the existing regime.
